Claire McPhail Counselling

About Me

Hello, my name is Claire. I'm a qualified integrative counsellor. and a registered member of the BACP, working in private practice in County Durham, in the North East of England.  I work in a 1-1 basis with adults in person, and remotely, via telephone and zoom.

I work predominantly with a relational and collaborative approach, meeting clients with compassion, understanding and warmth, to provide a safe and confidential space where feelings, thoughts and behaviours can be explored.

Alongside my private practice, I also work in the voluntary sector, counselling individuals who have been subjected to domestic abuse and sexual violence. My passion for women-centred therapy comes from working in this area for over fifteen years.

My core training includes CBT, person centred and psychodynamic theory. I have additional qualification in Breathwork, mindfulness and emotional freedom technique and I am trained in trauma informed practice.  My practice is inclusive and respectful. I am an LGBTQ+ allied therapist.

I adhere to the BACP's ethical framework and standards of good practice.  I hold professional insurance, a clear DBS and I am registered under the Data Protection Act (1998) .
